How do you know the quality of the oud

To distinguish a good original oud from a bad and adulterated oud, we recommend the following:

- The adulterated oud has a high smell and very black color, but it is very bad

- The good natural oud is natural black, but some cheaters do it cheat in it, but to distinguish between the original and the adulterated oud, the original oud has brown points, while the oud adulterated is fake , drawn, and there are no points on it.

- In an adulterated oud, if a light is placed on the oud, you will see brightness

- If the plastic bag is completely sealed on the original dried wood for a while, and then opened, it will smell rain or something close to it, and if it is new and still wet, then this smell will emit it until it dries.

- A good oud does not come out of dust after wiping with a tissue and the color is thick brown. But it might come out a little bit, which is wood dust, but if it comes out a lot, I know it's greased and very bad.

A good oud is very bitter when tasted and chewed, and its increase is increased with bitterness.

Water test method

This test comes after finding good quality wood, and it is useful in the process of sorting heavy wood from light only to identify wood that continues to smoke more on embers. This test is not useful in identifying the process of quality wood from poor quality.

- Wood testing in water is not used to know the quality of oud wood. Rather, it is used to know whether the wood is so dense and heavy that it sinks into the water or is it light and floats on water. Wood that dips into water lasts on fire for a longer period and is not a condition that smells excellent and the wood that floats on Water is less persistent in its smoke because its density is lower, it burns faster. Wood differs in density due to the difference in the growth cells in it and its location in the tree. The scientific fact has proven that wood is heavier than water, with evidence that if air is removed from it, it dives into the water.
